I have a theory as to why many leaders can’t give their teams what they need.
In my experience, great leadership starts with 4 qualities:
Self-awareness
Curiosity without centering oneself
Compassion
The courage to act on what you learn when you combine the above 3
Teams thrive under leaders who embody these qualities, and starve under leaders who don’t.
Chances are, there’s a leader in your past/present who made you wanna cry, fly, or smash their face in with a pie. But if you’re a PM reading this, remember…
Project managers are leaders. PROJECT MANAGERS ARE PEOPLE LEADERS. I don’t care what any person or job description wants to tell you. You can choose to believe that you are a leader and do your best to embody the qualities great leadership, too.
If you realize you’ve not been doing a bang up job lately, that’s good. Get triggered, then get better.
And if you need support while learning to embody these qualities, hit me up!
What do YOU think makes a great leader?
What has your team told you they love about your leadership style?
